Can I take the airtrain/LIRR combo back to the city when I land today?
Im currently on a flight back home to New York. I got to JFK in the first place by taking the LIRR to Jamaica and hopping the airtrain. I was planning on taking the same route back, but it just occurred to me that it may not have a similar return route. I usually take a cab so Im not used to this. I cant afford a cab so Im hoping this works out. I land at 5:30 am. Thanks guys.
Absolutely. The AirTrain always runs, you can go to either Howard Beach or Jamaica for $5. All day, every day.
Once you get to Jamaica, the LIRR CityTicket fare to Penn Station (valid only on Saturday/Sunday!) is $3.75. Don’t select "peak" or "off-peak." Select "CityTicket."

Yes you can take the Airtrain/LIRR to Manhattan from JFK Airport. The fare on the Airtrain is $5, while a one way CityTicket, which a weekend rail ticket, will cost you $3.50.
